Where we came from.
Twenty-five years of building, before AI was a category anyone was hiring for.
First Strategy is operator-led. We choose the work, and we run it ourselves.
What we built.
Across our careers we have delivered for Boeing, American Express, Microsoft, FedEx, Pepsi, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, to name a few. More than 40% of the Fortune 100.
We shipped systems for people who cannot afford failure. One of the first iPad applications. The first critical care mobile application approved for use in hospitals. Work for the intelligence community.
None of that was AI work. All of it was the same work. Figure out how something should actually run. Build it. Keep it running after the people who built it have gone.
Why we started this one.
We spent years watching good work die in committee. Decisions that took two quarters. Pilots that shipped as slide decks and nothing else.
So in 2020 we started First Strategy for companies where decisions still get made in a room, and the person who says yes is the person who has to live with it.
We are not consultants who studied AI. We are builders who use it every day.
How we staff.
Most engagements are one or two senior practitioners. Some need three. We size the team to the problem, not the problem to the team.
We do not publish who works on what. The discipline that keeps our clients' names off this site keeps our operators' names off it too.
What we believe.
How we behave on an engagement: four commitments we hold ourselves to.
- Build to learn
- Version one is for learning, not for perfection. Ship something that works, then make it better with real evidence in hand.
- Human-in-the-loop
- Critical decisions stay with people. AI proposes. Humans approve. The accountability does not move.
- Capability over dependency
- Our job is to leave you running AI on your own. If you still need us a year later, we did the engagement wrong.
- Document decisions
- Future-you and the next operator will thank you. Log the why, not just the what.
That is the bar. If we miss it on your engagement, say so, and we will fix it on our time.
How it starts.
A fixed-fee day in your business with your leadership. Real work, not slides. Two weeks later you have a playbook, yours to run with us or without us. Day One.
You know what you want built. Tell us what it is. Inquire.
The systems are there and your people are not using them. We start with the work they actually do. Inquire.
