Where we came from.
Before AI was a category anyone was hiring for, we were building the systems businesses ran on.
What we built.
Across our careers we shipped systems for people who could not afford failure.
An iPhone medical application, built on early access to Apple's SDK, letting obstetricians read mother and baby heart rates on a phone instead of from paper strips at the bedside.
A cockpit readiness and safety system for a new commercial airliner, built for the pilots who would use it.
Figure out how something should actually run. Build it. Keep it running after the people who built it have gone.
None of that was AI work. All of it was the same work.
We spent years watching good work die in committee.
Pilots that shipped as slide decks and nothing else.
So in 2020 we started First Strategy for companies where decisions still get made in a room, and the person who says yes is the person who has to live with it.
We are not consultants who studied AI. We are builders who use it every day.
We size the team to the problem, not the problem to the team.
Most engagements are one or two senior practitioners. Some need three.
We do not publish who works on what. The discipline that keeps our clients' names off this site keeps our operators' names off it too.

Log the why, not just the what. The next operator will need it.
